Removing front bumper

I want to replace the passenger side fog lite housing on my car. i need to remove the front bumper. I dont have a service manual so this has been hard for me to figure out. it appears that there are 3 push pins on the underside on the front of the bumper.
my question is that are they actually pushpins, as they are extremely hard to remove? i have not been sucessful and i do not want to break them. also is there anything else that gets gets done to remove thr frong bumper? any advice would help greatly.
