Donut questions...

I just realized that my '00 Z28 does not have a spare!

Is there a website that I can order a spare from?

And one more question...

If the back tire pops, should I take a front tire off and put the front tire on the back and the donut on the front?

If that doesn't make any sense, I can draw a picture to better describe what I'm trying to ask.

Thanks!

-Dave

Go to a junk yard for a spare. Find any GM 5 lug vehicle and use theirs. If your tire pops, just put the donut on that tire. Personally, with 70% of your stopping power coming from the front, not to mention steering, I'd leave the back tire as the one with the donut.

I found a great junkyard that specializes in GM. I got the spare tire, jack and all related doo-dads for $15. It was all in new condition. You can do a search on www.car-part.com for parts and yards in your area.

But by putting the smaller tire on your back isnt that going to mess up the limited slip? And the rear end in general??

Your other question. If the donut tire is smaller than your other tires, you should definitely run it on the front. Your spider gears will get totally screwed if your back tires are a different diameter. This is assuming you run for an extended period. If you have a flat and put your donut on, regardless of location, limit your driving and get you regular tire fixed ASAP.

A donut is a very temperary solution. Is to get you home for a short distance. Thats it, nothing more. you put the Spare on and get to a local tire place to get it fixed. So dont freak out about where to put it on and what not. You speed is limited to 50 MPH so I would not worry about your brakes.
