Oh no...big decision on buying....help!!!

I have a deposit on this 2002 SS. At least I think so. I ran the VIN through carfax, and nowhere does it mention that it is the SS or anniversary model. Can someone tell me the code in the VIN which signifies SS model? Anniversary model? The car seems to have the SS features, but shouldn't it sho0w up on carfax as an SS too? also, there is a discrepancy in the carfax info. The dealer says they have had the car for a week and it had 14,8xx on it when they got it...but carfax says dealer had it for sale in May with 10k miles on it. I'm not sure what to believe. Anybody with a good understanding of how carfax works please help!!!!
Jay

The VIN won't tell you certain details about the car ie: anniversary or even SS model. This Place has some info. Maybe it has what you need. I was searching for specific details but didn't find anything. Is it an SLP car? I think all SS's are. If so, they can tell you about it by the VIN number. Carfax has been known to not be 100% reliable. Neither have car dealers. The cars RPO codes can tell you more than the VIN will.

Hi,
Thanks for the help guys. I called up SLP directly, gave them my VIN, and they told me it was in fact a real SS. FYI, I got the financing, and now I'm just waiting for the title to get to the dealership so I can actually buy it. I can't wait now. Probably next week I'll have it. Thanks again,
Jay
