is there really a difference in gas?

other than price, is there a difference between the premium and regular? I hear there is no difference!

Yes there is. Regular is usually 87 octane, then 89, then premium which is from 91-93 usually. Octane is real, and there is a big difference.

Octane is an important factor in high compression engines. Higher octane is less susceptible to predetonation due to compression than low octane is. Ambient temperature is another factor. Cold weather will allow you to get away with a lower octane.

Alot of guys claim that 93 is the only way to go. I disagree, I run 89 and can barely tell the difference to the 93. I'm an LT1 guy, I think the LS1 is different buisness. They seem to be more finicky about fuel.

This is just my opinion, I think I'm in the minority here. Everyone here seems to swear by premium fuel.

LS1's ar not happy with less then 91, you will get redused milage and poor performance. Just not worth saving the maybe 1 dollar at fill up.

if your motor runs fine on lower octane, use it. If not, use the good stuff.

Quite the opposite, running 87 or 89 my car gets horrible gas milage, where as it is much better with 93

You should actually use the least amount of octane you car can get away with. It will make more power that way.

Octane is a measure of how volitile or unstable the fuel is.

If you have a hot tune.. or a car that is specifically setup on premium you'll be hurting performance.

really?? this seems backwards to me? Why do race cars run 100 octane?
