2000 ss

hey all. currently i own 2000 z(not ss version). i was looking at a 2000ss at local dealership. my z has 71k on it, and ss had 51k. they are asking 15,900 for it. anyone know what the hp rating is on the 2000ss and would i notice the hp and tq that much difference if i traded? also, did the ss's come with slp exhaust? cuz from what i saw, it had the 4 exhaust on it (2 outlets on each side). any info would be great. ty all.

I doubt you would feel any difference at all if the other SS is stock. Same motor, same hp. The SS was badges, hood, spoiler and maybe a little better exhaust but other than that it's no different than a regular Z.

thanks guys for the info. the difference in price will prolly be about 5 grand. i might just use that money for mods. mods include, slp loudmouth and chip. i enjoy my car, but always thought the ss's were faster/better handeling etc. thanks again.

on pretty much any ls1 you can spend under a grand and get the same performance numbers of an ss on a z

example: 2002 z28 310hp stock

2002 ss 345hp stock

tahts only 35hp difference...slap a catback, lid cai smooth bellows on there and maybe take the maf screen off(not recomended for road) and youll be at the same hp or you should be assuming you dont go with flowmasters

I've witnessed many NON-SS, WS-6, etc. cars dyno just as much as the SS, WS-6, etc.

i heard about flowmasters. mr. bowtie recomended slp with loudmouth. i want some noise coming out. i have read the slp site. it says the loudmouth comes with a muffler, i'm not sure what type. should i be getting a different muffler? if so, which one? i seen what i think is called a bulliet muffler? sound familar?

you can either get the loudmouth or the loudmouth 2(supposed to be easier to switch mufflers out. i got the loudmouth 2 with the bullet muffler and i ended up switching to the resonator from the regular loudmouth. i think you can order the loudmouth 2 with the resonator muffler if you want something loud.

The SS's have the Blackwing air lid, SLP dual dual exhaust, 3.42 gears, upgraded shocks and springs, Hood, spoiler, badges, and rims. The SS does demand a high value in general but not worth it in my money. Esp since most SS owners change all but the hood, spoiler and badges lol. If you want something to drive and not mod then the SS is the way to go. If your like me an bassically only the shell of the car will remain the same, then stick with the Z. I can however understand dropin 20,000 miles from one car to another.

U can have my 2001 SS hardtop with 43k miles on it right now for 15,500. Just say the word and she's yours. Gotta get the cars sold before I move and my little girl arrives.

Cool

Yeah, if you buy the SS you'll probably put 20k miles on it the first year because you'll want to drive it everywhere! My advice, save the cash, keep your Z, add a few bolt ons and be faster than an SS!

got back from dealer. his price for ss is 15900. he would give me 8700 for mine. both 2000's. i cant see paying that much difference for lateral move in years. i'll save the money and put add ons. thanks for advice all.

For that difference in price you should have smacked the salesman upside his head. F that, deff not worth it then. Hell you can get the hood, spoiler and get them painted under a grand lol
