Coil Pack

I was going to change my spark plugs this weekend but with all of the reading about how hard it is (especially #8) I am starting to change my mind.

People keep telling me to remove my coil packs and it will be much easier. Can someone PLEASE tell me what in the hell a coil pack is?? A pic would be nice as well.

its the thing that the spark plug wire comes from meaning one boot is on the plug and the other is on the coil pack

Orb, they're the LS1 version of the distributor/optispark. They go on top of the valvetrain covers. They're fairly easy to remove yourself except for the far back bolt on the passenger side. I found putting a socket then putting as much of the drive on there as you can is definetly the best way to do it, don't bother rebolting that one down when you're finished.

Yes they make getting to the back pass. plug MUCH easier, some people also recommend jacking the car up and getting to it from the underside.

check out www.intstalluniversity.com. They have it laid out step by step for you. Although I haven't gotten to it yet on my car, I know it looked a lot simpler after I read it.

Only stupid question is one not asked. You may not know something but there are plenty of people that are willing to give good advice. I have been workin on cars since I was 6 and went to school for a GM tech program, so I will know more then some. If your not sure dont be afraid to ask
