tires

hey guys i am wondoring what are the tire size for a 00 z28. all i know is that they come in 17x9 but what are the threads and dimensions for that? im probably gonna get 285 in the front and 295 in the rear. its time for me to buy a set of new tires so i need something that is good for all season and that is good for street driving. right now i got some cheap tires on the z28 which are kumhos. i know they suck since they are dieing out now. what do you guys recommend? if there is particular brand please let me know. thanx

Z28's came with 16in wheels, SS's came with 17's.
245/50 for the 16 and 275/45 for the 17's

I hear Pirelli PZero Nero M&S tires are one of the best performance all season tire. I recently put BFG KDW tires on my Z28. No problems so far...but they aren't all season. I think Avon makes good all season tires.

Its better to spend a little more on tires, remember they are the only thing that touches the ground. I thought the BFG T/A's are good season tires.

The Falken FK451's are nice and a pretty good deal too in the 275/40/17...I like em! Do discount tire direct and the local Discount Tire Retailer has to mount em free for you.

Hey Mudkat - how is the tread wear on those Falken's? I was just looking at those and I like the tread pattern. Nice price as well.

I got em on my 01 SS...they're bout a month old, so I can't speak for the wear, but they're great handling and water tires...also pretty mean lookin too. Most of the user ratings on TireRack were good for them. I'm not driving the 01 now cuz it's for sale and in my garage...

If you want an all season tire with excellent treadwear (>35k), great handling, and better than average traction, take a look at Continental ExtremeContacts. I ran them for 35K and after about 25K started having traction issues. They still handled well, though, and I should have got them again. My desire to try something new has screwed me again. I now have Khumo ASXs...dang. When they're gone, I'm going back to Conti's.
