Trying new Oil!

I just purchased 6 qts of Amsoil Series 2000 0W30 synthetic motor oil. I'll report back when I get some feel for the product.

amsoil is suposed to be one of the best, but in my opinion i would have gone with a higher wiegth LS1's are known for going through at least a quart between oil changes.

Nooo, 30W is all these engines need. They are designed to use a litle oil. about 1 qt eevery 3-5 thousand miles. A heavier weight oil will only cause more friction and a loss of power.

The only way to tell what an oil is doing is with an oil analysis.

Do you think maybe their engineers know something we don't?

every sbc we have uses a little oil between changes, even if it is bought new, except my tbi 305 in my 92 RS, it has over 130,000 miles and doesn't use a drop!
