ASCD aftermarket hoods

Has anone had any luck with aftermarket hoods from ASCD? I want the SS hood, but I'm not sure which one is the best fit. I do body work as a hobby, with that being said, I am lazy and don't want to spend a whole week blocking out ripples. Thanks.

I have the big block hood on mine and I really like it. The underside could have been done a little bit better but the hood itself looks pretty good and with my car being black you know it shows every little flaw.

I bought that hood and it was warped. Had to install hood pins to bend it down flush with the fenders. The plastic hood scoop grille warped from the heat and fell out. Half of the holes were not drilled and there was a lip on the inside of the scoop that restricted air flow and I had to cut it off with a hacksaw blade.
If I had to do it all over again....I would NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS MODEL OF HOOD.

Anyone out there know who has a better model hood than the ASCD? I have seen add's in the CHP and Super Chevy that Harwood is making show series hoods, and are almost done with the 93-97 style SS hood, anyone have any info on these or one better?

yeah i got a ASCD...... well you got to watch who you buy from..... every company has screw ups....and will sell them to other companies for cheap.... so just watch it.....The reason i went with my hood it because most of the other companies have a 4 inch cowl for ours cars and not a 3 inch... i just figured since its not a stock car and i wanted a clean but souped up look, the 3 inch would be best. hey you could also look at a company called glasstek they make very very good stuff as well. good luck

I see that GM Restoration Parts.com sells the hood also. I wonder if those are aftermarket ones also or the real McCoy? They want $800 for the hood. I don't really care if the stupid screen don't fit, because I was going to put on a billet one anyway. I just want to make sure it bolts on with no trouble.

Funny thing, I'm reading a post of a guy who wants ram air on his 95 Conv. but people were saying that you get the same performance with a CAI. Is there any truth to this, because that's why I wanted it, it's a cool looking hood to boot, but I mainly wanted the ram air feature.

Yeah they are all about the same. IMHO I would stay away from the factory SS airbox. The reason I say this is because the box sits right on the hot intake Not a very good design in my eyes kinda like the waterpump overtop the opti If your wanting a hood for ram air I would get a hood like the Formulas have and mount a lid on the front. I like my hood just cause its a cowl hood and the air coming from the bottom of the motor rushing through and out the back of the hood has to keep it a little cooler than normal

You know I was wondering about that very same thing about the intake
