It will work, it will be stuffing it on there but it will work. A better choice for that rim is a 245/45-17.

I'd say its really pushing it man... I'd want at least a 9.5" for that.... I'd have to go with rick on the 245's

You can do it. Lots of guys run that size for road racing. It's not optimum, but it would be fine. The Cobra comes with 275/40/17's on 17x9" wheels stock, and you know a factory wouldn't be pushing the limits in either direction, so there's "wiggle room" both ways.

Read the thread again, he is not talking about a 17X9, he is talking about a 17X8. The factory Camaro SS's, WS.6 and Firehawks came with a 17X9" mounted to a 275/40-ZR17 and it is a perfefect match with correct contact patch and section width. A 275 on a 17X8" is pushing it.

I read it correctly the first time. Read MINE again. I stated the 17x9 was a factory setup with a buffer above and below. Meaning, the 275 is right in the middle of what you can get away with. Since we can fit a 315 on a 17x9, we can also fit a 275 on a 17x8. Like I said, lots of veteran road racers run 275 Kumho V710's on stock 17x8 wheels in order to stay within their class requirements.

Your response was ambiguous and looks like you were referring to what I posted in that you were unclear of the rim size that Marshall listed. There really was no reason to bring up a 17X9 as he was asking about a 17X8. Squeezing eight oranges into a glass does not give you a glass of Apple juice.

You can fit Nitto 315's on a 17x9. It's not the best combo, but it's done with regularity. Nittos run narrower than, say, BFG's, which I would NOT recommend running 315's with a 17x9.

Just because you are unable to see the relavence, does not mean it doesn't exist.

It's all good, I'm just ribbing Jason as he likes doing that. Call it, testing his threshold for tolerance.

I'm saying a NITTO 315 will fit. However, it's not worth it in my opinion. To me, the point of a wide tire is for looks and traction. Squeezing a wide tire onto a narrow rim negates both points, at least to me. You're better off with a 9.5 than a 9, or course, but still. 315's look MUCH better on a 10.5 or 11" wheel.

Yeah, seriously. I don't think either one of us are tense. I enjoy receiving as much as giving....topic dependant, of course.
