Question wheel size

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the ADR Sterling wheels, they have them on ebay for $500 for a set of four 18x8.5. They are good looking wheels, but I was wondering how wide of a tire I could run on an 8.5 in. wide wheel. All the tire websites say you need a 9 to 10 inch wheel to run 275/40's, but there was a car in a magazine I was reading that was running a 275/40/18 on a 18x8 in. wheel. Is anyone running a 275/40 on a 8.5 in. or narrower wheel? The other thing I was wondering about, is that these wheels have a 38mm offset, most wheels I have seen for these cars have a 54-56mm offset. Is the width difference why these wheels have a different offset, or will they not fit right? I want them to be flush with the side of the car, not sticking out or tucked under. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just make sure the offset is right and designed for the Camaro or Vette. Yes you can fit the 275- 40- 18 under there. There are paople here using the Z06 wheels that are 18X9.5 and they fit. The most important factor is the offset.

I would not trust half the stuff a mag says even though I still like to read them. I would be willing to bet you would need at least a 9 wide to run the 275s.
