Can you help me do some homework?

Alright brotherns i am on a mission. I own a vert...it is alil heavier i admit and it scares the crap out of me to take past like 100 b/c i have come VERY close to flipping a camaro once and that was a coupe..i can tell that story another time if you want me too..anyways puts me to my point..im not into moding my vert for 1/4 times..im in it for 2 reasons really...i want my lope sounding monster and i want to be able to get the torque to pull up my front end say ooo at least 3 feet or so off the ground from a stop..you know noticible..anyways that means i need some mega torque..what can you guys suggest for me to save up for? or waste my credit cards on thx in advance for any help which is greatly appreciated..as you guys know i have been talking about my exhaust..i have been wanting shorties but im still not 100% sure...the JBAs have my eye at the moment..if i decide those, that wont happen til prob august. And this isnt going to be an overnight deal for me, i am hoping to accomplish this goal no later than mid 08 so no hurry, just need a finger to point me in right direction of the things i could look at for bolt ons etc to get me that torque, thx guys!

If I'm not mistaken you'll get more torque from lt's than you will shorties or mids. You'll need a stall converter, some 4:10 gears out back, as well as a beefed up rear end. A cam/head swap will give you what you want but if you go too aggressive on your cam you'll lose driveability. And you'll need a stb, suspension mods and sticky dr's to transfer all that power to the ground. That's the simple list but it's homework for you to chew on.

I may get chastised for saying this...but a 400HP car can pull the front wheels with the right suspension.

What is your budget and timeframe for this project....

Also, don't see the point of building a car that will pull the front wheels and not be a track destroyer. I mean how many times are you going to pull the tires on the street? Maybe I misunderstood...but we are looking to build a solid car here with a helluva suspension.

See ya on the road,
Matt

ya that is all the things i figured i would have to do, just gotta find the right combo now, im looking into the slp h/c package and i figured like a 3500 stall and was gonna go with 4:10 gears and move to a 12 bolt..i know nothing about suspension though and as i said no hurry on any of this of course, im just hoping to have it accomplished by 2008ish, and believe me, if i can pull the car up the way i want to, id do it A LOT probably :P

and here is the story about me almost flipping a camaro...i had a 82 z28 that i kick myself for ever selling..i had a sbc 350 in it that i built and a th-350. I had just finished painting it and all, it just needed new tires and i knew it...i was waiting a few more days for my next paycheck and i was gonna get them too. anyways, i was driving down a road and it has some big long curves in it and like a dummy i was taking these curves at about 90ish mph..dont know exactly b/c the gauge on that year only went up to 85, my passenger rear tire blew all and wrapped around my rim and i started doing some lovely 360s..i was over correcting myself (no power steering) and i hit a curb and since it was all rim that hit, it snapped my rear axle off so i was riding on 3 wheels and dragging what was left of my axle. Also in the process of hitting that curb it put me in the air on that side and i almost shat my pants...it lasted only a few seconds and went about 2 blocks worth i guess. I never wanna do that again...my wife was with me and i had a friend in the backseat..thank god no one was hurt...i fixed the car shortly after that and sold it..i regret it and thats why i got my 4th gen...now i just wanna get it up in the air alil...sounds silly i know lol cuz i know that doing this can make it flip just as easy but..it just makes me feel more safe and its what id like to do.

Start with suspension. SFC's first, weld-on tubular ones. Next, get some non-adj LCA's and a panhard bar(adj. if you want). Next, buy a STB(for the ride back down from the air). I have these and my car handles beautifully. It's strong enough to handle a wheelstand, but I just don't have slicks or enough hp to pop one. Once the suspension is good, buy a stall converter and shift kit for your tranny. Buy a set of LT's and a cutout. Get it tuned. Pull out as much weight as you can or are willing to. Buy a set of drag rims and tires. Get some HAL single adj. shocks/springs and a tourque arm. Once you have these mods, you will be able to pull both wheels anywhere from 2-12 inches in the air and you will run a best 1/4 mile time of about 11.8 or 11.9. That's what my buddies running in his car. Stock rear, stock internals. (best time is 11.82) Now if you want an extra two feet, you will need to buy a 12 bolt/9inch rear with 4.10's and do a cam install.

Sure that might work, but don't you think the lag would kind of hinder the objective. I mean to get the wheels off the ground you have to have that nice "pop" of power right up front. With a turbo I think that would just create a nice burnout.

OK here is a short list of what is needed to pull your wheels.

Suspension- Adjustable tq arm, LCA's, Drag springs, Drag shocks
Drivetrain- A4:3600 stall bout 2.5 str and 3.73's M6: Heavy Clutch and 4:10's
Motor- Bolt-ons (including long tubes) and a cam will help
Tires- A nice sticky set of slicks will help greatly, DR's minimum
Chassis- Deff get some subframes, your gonna need em. A tubular K Member and Control arms would help out greatly by shaving around 90 lbs off the front end.

Thats really about it, but here is the kickers. You are gonna blow apart your 10 bolt, plan on a 12 bolt. The more work you put into the motor the more impressive the wheel stand, IE cam does well but Heads/cam would be better . And plan on replaceing a ton of front steering and suspension components.
