new z28 owner

I am in the process of buying a 99 z28. There are two things that I would like other experienced owners to comment on. First is the
glare from the dash on the windshield. The fellow selling the car
had the vehicle cleaned up at a shop and they put armorall or
something like it on the dash. In the bright sun this created a
real glare on the windshield. Second is the t-tops. Alot of sun and
heat comes thru there. Are there any aftermarket parts to deal
with that issue.
Thanks in advance for your help.

hey congrats on the new ride... i'm sure you'll love it w/ the t-tops they make t-top covers that are pretty much a thin piece of plastic w/ interior color cloth wrapped around it i believe. They velcro right in therefor it would look from inside the car liek you don't have t-tops. as for the glare... is it on the windshield itself or glare from the shinyness of the dash? I used to have a terrible problem w/ fogging and glare on my 98 firebird. But since i sold it and got a 99 Z28 I used the liquid rainX and it works great and seems to help some w/ that to me anyways

Wash your dash with soap and water, and NEVER Armorall it!

I use the Armor-all shine free stuff for the dash. It works nice, gives the detailed look of armor-all without the huge amount of glare as the regular stuff!

yup, and as soon as you stop using it, it turns the dash white. Soap and water works great.

I would have sold you my 99' Z-28. I'm not sure how much you paid for yours, but I'm willing to let mine go for WAY under loan value. The glare is common esp. if the dash has been "greased-up" Tinting the t-tops will help, and these cars came from the factory with non-transparent panels that go underneath the t-top. Majority of the time they're missing if you buy the car used.

This is true. It is also one of the leading causes for cracked dashes. I've been told about some Mother's conditioner that is supposed to be bad a$$. Moomba(boats) recomends it for use on thier vinyl and plastic.
