255s on stock 16s?

hey guys this question is about my Trans Am. i was gonna take the ZR1s off of my blue Z and put them on the TA JUST to go to the track friday night. but i've decided i dont freakin feel like it lol. and plus once i make the swap i dont wanna swap them back. and i dont like the ZR1s on my TA. but anyway i have 16s on my TA stock... and im assuming they are 8 inches wide.... correct? if so...

my question is... what the widest TIRE i can fit on my stock wheels? i wanna purchase Drag Radials so both cars have them. but i dont want new rims for the TA... do any DRs come in like 255/45/16 or something like that? can i even fit 255s on a 8 inch wide wheel? let me know... thanks

I've seen people run 265/45's before, but I wouldn't suggest it. The only tires that I've seen in that size are road racing tires anyway...

You can get BFG DR's in 255/50/16 and they fit just fine.
