Pass. side floor wet... why?

hey guys i never run my heat but i did for the first time yesterday cause my girl was in the car... well when she was over there she realized the floor was wet... she lifted the mat and the floor was soaked beside the hump.... anyone know why? is it related to the heat bein on? whats the fix? thanks

Heater core is bad, should have smelled like radiator fluid to. Did it?

actually it smelled like ear wax (i think im the only person in the world who would say that)... but it didnt smell like antifreeze. but anyway i was thinkin that was the problem... that freakin sucks. oh well..

The problem is the heater core as said above and it is leaking so the more you run it the more antifreeze/water you are going to leak onto your passenger side floor, also keep a close watch on the radiator level so you don't get low and over heat.

Its not that bad of a smell. You smell maple syrup when it furst starts to go. Your best bet, if you are making a long trip, is to bypass the heater core.

Bypassing the heater core can be done many different ways, but I am not sure on the details of doing it on these cars in particular as I have never had a problem with them in anything other than my S10s.

But you wont have any heat if you bypass the heater core correct?

i think its just my nose.... everything smells like ear wax to me.... its my "go to" smell lol

well i guess i will take care of the heater core when i get back... that sucks man... oh well... i gotta have heat if my little lady is gonna be ridin with me

yeh when i had the problem with my explorer i hated the smell..it was too sweet of a smell and i had to drive from michigan to vermont ..i ended up leaving the truck in vermont and flying home

Bassically what you are doin on a bypass is takeing the heater hose that runs to the inlet of the heater core and running it to the outlet hose from the heater core. It will fix the leak till you have time and money to fix the heater core. Otherwise you will continue to blow coolant out of the core. Problem is when the motor is pressurized you loose more coolant (the engine is up to temperature)
