CD player

Just purchased a 2000 SS... even with it being that... it only has a tape deck!!!! AAHH

I even checked the vin to make sure it was a real SS.

Anyway... I don't even know if this is a proper category to put this in... but what all will I need to do to hook up an aftermarket CD player in the car? It does have the Monsoon 8 speaker 500w system, but is that compatible with any CD Player?

I'm not looking for a sound system really, I kind of grew out of that... basically just wanting a good CD Player. Got one for sale?

Wow thats probably two or three different threads in one. sorry. haha.

Thanks

I've got my stock Monsoon CD player. Make me an offer if ya want it. I had to ditch the monsoon amp to get decent sound out of my Clarion HU that I run now.

all you need is a dash kit to make it fit in the double din slot and a wiring harness adapter to connect it to the stock wires. Oh and if u want a radio u may need to buy an antenna adapter

Is the Monsoon setup not good? Where's the AMP located? On older vehicles... early 90s and prior... I've never had trouble hooking up aftermarket components... But I've heard that on these newer vehicles you might have to replace all the components to get everything to work right?

no you just cant wire new speakers into the factory wiring so either buy an amp specifically for the speakers or you can wire them directly to your new head unit but depending on the speakers u buy they may not get there full potential as head units only put out so much power

Gotcha.

Next question... Say I buy that factory Monsoon CD player... will my steering wheel controls work with it?

what about an aftermarket CD player?

I think you'd only need the adapter if you go with an aftermarket system. The stock HU should be plug and play with the steering wheel controls. Correct me if I am wrong
