new 98 Z, faster than normal?

Ok guys, I was excited to grab another ls1 fourth gen after my 4 month hiatus. I was even more excited when I found this car..its a fully loaded 98 Z, hardtop. Its got 74k on the clock and its bone bone BONE stock(my sig is photoshopped).

Now, my 01 car ran awesome with just bolt on's, but man this car seems strong. It barks 2nd gear EVERY time(it even kicks sideways), and it will fry em all the way through 2nd gear on a burnout, just punching it from a dead stop and smacking 2nd(its an a4). When I bought the 01, it was stock, and it definately didn't run this good. In fact, it NEVER barked second gear. This sucker pulls hard as long as you want to stay in it. I'm wondering if there were just a few 98's that ran good from the factory, because I was under the impression that the 01-02 cars were a little stronger.
I haven't takin it to the strip(I will friday) but I do know that I absolutely run off and leave my dads 02 35th SS car(its stock also). I'm talkin the faster we go, the more I pull. The SS a 345 horse optioned car, so i'm a little perplexed. The SS IS aconvertible, but man I doubt it makes that much difference.

well i'm done getting all worked up..post away!

Take it to the track and get back with us. I don't think whether it breaks the tires loose or not is a good indication of how fast is is...it might have different tires/different road conditions to allow it to slip easier. Dynos & track times will tell the truth.

Yeah, that is true. I had a friend that thought his Mustang was really freaking fast because it could fishtail around any corner.....well....bald tires do that is what I informed him, lol.

How positive are you that it's completely stock? Perhaps it has gears in it. Some people won't tell buyers a car is modded because they think it may hurt the sale.

That too. A lot of modifications aren't so obvious.

Well i'm POSTITVE its stock, a 46 year old lady bought it new in FLA, and it went through a dealer and then I got it.

It seems to have a 3.23 gear in it, but i'm not sure...It definately does not have a 2.73...and I doubt a 3.42 is in it

What would it be turning at 70mph with a 3.42? or 20mph in 1st

Well hopefully someone can tell you the rpm range so we'll know for sure.

I wouldn't say the 46year old woman rules out mods though. She would have been 38 when she bought it. I'm 36, and if my wife were to buy a performance car, I'd mod it for her...possibly even with her permission.

Never rule out the women on the battlegrounds of cars. Ive known quite a few fugging fast rides out there driven AND built by women.
