Engine Treatments or not?

I now have 90k miles on my 2000z. It seems to have a knock when I start it up after it has been sitting for awhile. I was wondering would it hurt to use some engine treatment and maybe use some injector clearner?

Thanks

You could but I don't think it would cure the problem.

you could go to sears and get their system cleaner..it cleans the crankcase and they pressure the fuel system to clean...might help

It sounds like a lifter... That is VERY common in high Mileage LS1 i have a 2000 w/ 108 on the clock and it has the same noise... But once it warms up it goes away right?

Sounds like valvetrain noise. Its normal on these roller motors, my Dad's 02 SS did it even at 7,000miles, and his truck (8.1) does it. Until they warm up. My 01 did it, but my 98 does not do it? it must be oddball.
Run a heavier weight oil and see if that helps.

I'll try the heavier weight oil on mine....like RPMExpress, I have an 00 with 100K on the clock and the valvetrain is being loud-

RPM, how does yours sound? I'm trying to nail down exactly what mine is, some people have suggested it could be a lifter.

I'm a little late to the party on this but......

A lot of the LS1's seem to have a little piston slap on cold starts.
Many folks have reported it and GM has acknowledged it but says it is perfectly normal.

The 5w30 oil is really thin when it's cool and that doesn't help either.

My 98 does it, has always done it since brand new. It hasn't changed or gotten better/worse in the last 98,000 miles.

I would NOT use any oil additives on mine.
It's straight 10w30 Mobil One for me since new and it gets changed every 3000 miles.

I thought about using some Lucas Oil Stabilizer...i have a friend with a Vette, he swears by it. Not sure how well it'll help our problem though?

but be aware that the thicker the oil, the more problems youll have starting and risking more in the cold, the reason 5 w 30 is standard is because it performs well in a wider range of temperatures compared to the heaview thicker 10w30
