P1416 engine code

So my SES light came on again and I went to get it checked. Auto Zone said it was P1416 Manufacturers Analysis or something like that. Anyone know what this code means and what I need to do to fix it? Thanks for the help

I 'beeve that's the code for "Secondary Air Injection Failure".

Most likely it's the A.I.R. system check valve of which there are two.

The one causing this problem will be on the PASSENGER side of the engine, in plain view.

It's a black thing with a rubber hose connected to the side going to the rear of the engine.
A metal hose connects to the front of the exahusr manifold.

A VERY SIMPLE fix for ya, I hope.

The valve cost about 10 bux and you can get one at Advance or AutoZone.
You WILL need to take the front hose off WITH the valve to remove the metal hose.
Put it in a vice and use a 15/16 or 1" wrench on it to remove it.
Wrench size may not be correct , it's been awhile since I changed one.
The gasket on the metal pipe 'may' be reuseable but....
I went by the Chevy dealer parts dept. and bought a couple of them for about a dollar. So go ahead and get yourself a couple of'em..

After you have the valve off you can blow thru it and make sure it's bad.
It will pass air in one direction and not the other if it's working right.
If the resistance to blowing thru it is equal in both directions OR if it won't pass air in any direction, it's bad.

After you replace it, use the same scan tool you used to get the code to turn the MIL off. Crank'er up and the light should stay off now.

It's not going to run any better but it will make your Check ENgine light be useful again.

GOOD LUCK WITH IT!!!!!

VetNumJim is exactly correct. My 00 Z28 had the same problem. The fix is about $13 from Auto Zone. Do your self a favor and buy two. As soon as you fix the pax side your computer will shoot a 1415 as now the air that it had is all going through the new free flowing check valve on the passenger side and none goes through the drivers side.

00Z28, Pewter, MagnaFlow Cat back, SLP air box lid & K&N fliter.
