4th gen seats in a 2nd gen????

i've got a 79 firebird esprit and can't really find a good pair of seats for it and wondering how hard it would be to put a pair of 4th gen seats in? will they just bolt in like they do in the 3rd gens? or will it take alot of work?

You could probably get them in but I think that the height differnce in seats will be a bit wierd if you were to use the stock mounting brackets...

4th gen seats in 2nd gen

Use washers to adjust the seats that should work. The new Tiburons got nice seats leather and with out very much work they will fit your car and they will look good.

I think we saw a 1st or 2nd gen with the 4th gent seats in it.. I am not sure what gen it was but I can tell you they looked really sharp.

I will check with Jim to see if he still has the pic of it.

It's a piece of cake. You will need to notch part of the metal frame of the seat bottom, and make 3 inch extension for the rear of the seat rails. Like mentioned above they will need a little bit of a spacer too. I used a large hex nut. It takes about 15 minutes per seat to make them fit. I need to pull my seat in a couple of weeks, if you would like I can send you some pictures.

my brother in law had a set of 3rd gen seats in his 73 & he had to drill new holes.

thanx man. if you could send me some pix that would be great. its hard as hell to find a good set of 2nd gen seats for a good price, but i can snag a set of 4th gen cloth seats easy. then all i gotta do is fix the driver side door handle and my 79 will be back on the road.
