68 camaro door question

im going to go look at a set of newly skinned 1968 camaro convertable doors. my question is, are the coupe doors and the convertable doors the same? just wanted to ask, just in case there is a difference. this guy has a set with new skins but no hardware for $300.00 or best. thanks

The doors are identical from coupe to convertible, and $300 is a great pice for the pair with skins.

My 69 passenger door is full of dings. After watching too many TV shows that show folks adding filler to smooth out bodies for show cars, I was thinking that the new fillers would be OK to smooth out the door without the expense of a new skin. The part cost is OK but I hear the labor costs are high.

Any comments?

The idea would be to hammer and dolly out as many of the dings as possible, and then D/A sand the door to metal and apply a skim coat of body filler and using a long board sander, block the door to level the filler out. Lastly, primer the door with the three heavy coats of polyester primer and then block the door with 80g dry, and finally, primer one last time and wet send with 360g and you should be golden.

Sounds almost as labor intensive as a new skin. Still it is good info when I talk to the body shop.

Thanks.
