i have the bose system and i had the same problem when i turned my cd player on, but my radio worked. there is a power ant. and a cont. power wire. hook the power ant. from the deck to the cont. power on the harness. it might be the other way around, i cant remeber exactly but that is the problem.

it is hard to find if i remember correctly it should be under the computer and to get to it from the inside is very hard. i believe there is something running threw the middle of it. was that the problem with your deck?

As far as putting an aftermarket deck in shouldn't be a problem. If you have a voltage tester that would test for continuity and to test to see which wires are give a 12V reading you can just connect to back of deck. What year camaro do you have and do you have the stock woofer in the rear with door and side panel speakers stock as well.
