98 cd player

I have a 98 that came with a factory cassette and cd changer. Now I have a factory cd player and I can't get it to control the changer. Even though it's the same as pictured in the owners manual. And according to the manual it's supposed to control the changer. Any ideas??????

Hmmmm, i would check to make sure that all connectors got pluged in in the right place and none came lose. also go thru the book to see if the have a trouble shooting section, otherwise I would call a dealer and talk to a tech, you may need a special connector and not evan know it, thats something GM is known for. other then that, I wish ya luck.

I've gone through all those suggestions you made. None of them seemed to provide me with a conclusion. Thanks for your input though. It is greatly appreciated.

I would make sure the DIN plug doens't have a short. The problem may be in finding another one to test it. Do any of you or know of where a factory MONSOON head unit is(cd-player)?

I just received an e mail from United Radio. That is the company that handles Delco Radios for GM. According to them,by the part # on the CD player, it doesn't have the correct "software" to operate the changer. I would have to find one with the correct "software." Should anybody else encounter this problem here's your answer.

Thanks for all who gave 2 cents to this post.

Hey Partsguy or anyone else,

Is there any way I can get a grey plastic Z-28 insignia for the side of my car (front fender) and replace the black one? I have a black car with a black top and I think it would look better.

Where should I look for it?

Thanks

The only way I would know of it would be to paint the black ones.
You could go by a body shop, I'm sure they would do it pretty cheap. Make sure if you go that route, that flex additive is put into the paint. This will keep them from chipping, cracking or spider webbing.

here is a cheaper way. alot of guys have gone to graphics places and had them overlayed with viynil. most already have the design and are able to place it right on. it holds up well and looks like a brand new one and it will be cheaper. good luck.

z28 insignia

Thanks Fellas...

I am going to go by a graphics place tomorrow or a body shop and see what I can get done...

A guy at the Dealership told me to use a blowdryer to loosen the adhesive on the back and it'll come off easier.

It'll look sweet if I get it done right.

This is what I did!-

I'm a youngster, so this may sound crazy to you older guys but I put a whole new system in my car! Pioneer CD player connected to the Original changer. Two Pioneer 4 way cross 6*9's and then i put two JL Audio 10 Inch sub woofers in the back. With a 1200 watt power acoustic amp. It hits, but that's what I like.

How did you get the stock changer to work with the Pioneer?

I changed my head unit to a JVC CD player. I got a custom box made for two MTX 12's. I gotta say...it's sounds pretty good. It even has nice bass with the top down.

Well

I have a friend who works in the audio business and he put some type of adapter connecting the two. I'm going to ask him what it was and i'll reply with it later!
