Cool Headlight Cleanup

Cleaned one of my headlights on my STS today. Ran out of daylight so will do the passenger side and fogs tomorrow. I used a 3M Headlight restoration kit I purchased at NAPA for $16.00. I've seen em on ebay as well. I was nervous cause I have never sanded and wet sanded before. But it went pretty easily. Cant wait for my 10000k hids to get here Friday. .

Here is the untouched passenger side and the freshly cleaned drivers side. Sorry for the crappy cell pics. The passenger side one loks better than it is in person. Lol. Its YELLOW. HAHA!

I LOVE this kit and highly recommend it to all.

So you sanded then wet sanded the lens. I assume you polished the lense afterwards.

Looks great! I bet that lasts a long time.

Thanks! Yes, the kit came with 3 or 4 different grits of sandpaper disks and then a polishing pad and polish. I hope it does last awhile. Lol.

It's been said that you should clear coat it after sanding it down/polishing, to protect the lense from hazing up again. I did that to mine as a precaution and mine look great. Gotta say, some 2000 grit sandpaper and some plastic-x polish will go a lonnnnnnnnnng way. Even if you just hit yours with some polish every once in a while, you shouldn't have to clear coat it though (i'm guessing).

The kit comes with a polishing pad that attaches to a drill. Drill has to be 1200+ in speed according to the directions. And it comes with some 3m headlight polishing compound.
