Well since we're selling the IROC and I get to use half the money for my car, I'm getting the longtubes by Stainless Steel Works thru Hawks and having a custom ypipe made for it and run it into a GMMG knock-off replica catback.

Just a little bit of progress this afternoon, finished the paint in the engine bay with the clear coat today. And take a look at all the spider webs behind the wheels! :lmao: Tomorrow afternoon when I get off work I'm going to work on takin the a-arms off so I can get the k-member out so that when my tubular piece comes in it will be ready to install.
Question for those who have the tubular k-members: Since the power steering lines mount on the stock k-member and run out towards the passenger side just to come back to the gear box, what did you do with the lines when you put the new k-member in? Did you zip tie them to the middle of the tubular piece or what? ![]() ![]()

I talked to UPS last night and my k-member will be here today, finally!
![]() I also bought a wiring harness from a 6spd fbody from a member of LS1tech, and found someone selling their Stainless Steel Works long tubes for the LSX swap because they found out they won't fit right with the 4L60E. So as soon as I get the check from my aunt and uncle for selling the IROC-Z, I'm going to meet up with this guy and get the headers next weekend. I'm going to be working on removing the k-member tonight after my classes and depending how long it takes, might even get the new one installed. ![]()

Ya, ya. I noticed the bolts holding the calipers on the caliper carriers were loose on my LS brakes. Loose enough for me to be able to untighten them with my hands... Probably not a good thing lol. I gotta figure out why they loosened up,

I will have to do that I suppose, because that was kind of scary when I found out they were so loose.
Another update: The new tubular Spohn k-member is in, along with the Spohn LSX motor mount brackets. Hopefully everything is positioned straight enough to where the motor will go in easily Question for those with the tubular k-members: How did you run the brake lines? Do they look like mine, where they go across the k-member way out in the open, or did you find a way to tuck them in closer to the middle portion of the k-member? ![]() ![]()

I went ahead and ordered one of those nose covers from a non-TPI Camaro that covers the hole where the TPI dual snorkel intake would be under the hood. I'm going to end up doing a cold air intake somewhat like an LT1 car and use the nose cover to cover the hole and also so I can cut a hole in the cover for the cap on the windshield washer reservoir.
I also picked this up from ebay: ![]()

I did some more piddling around with it today. I intended to start undercoating the car with the can of POR-15 I bought, but because it rained real hard today there was still a lot of moisture in the air and I was afraid it might hinder the undercoating's bond with the underside of the car. I ended up just cleaning up the transmission tunnel with Simple Green and some rags to get it ready for the POR-15. I think what I'm going to do is just concentrate on the transmission tunnel and then undercoat the rest of the car once it's running and I can take it to my friend's shop and use his lift. It would be pretty uncomfortable trying to undercoat an entire car while it is sitting 2 ft above the floor on jack stands.
Anyways, I was really pleased with how clean the under side of the car was under all the road grime. The trans tunnel looks brand new! Keep in mind this car has 103,xxx miles on it, and has been driven in rain and snow. Even with that considered, the frame and floor panels look awesome, the only surface rust on the bottom of the car is where the sub frame connectors were welded on. ![]() ![]() Then after working on that for a little while and getting sick of laying on my back, I started working on the 4th gen windshield washer reservoir. It's not completely mounted yet, it's just sitting in there for fitment. I'll mount it tomorrow or something, just wanted to see how well it would fit in that snug little front end. ![]() ![]() ![]() More of the reservoir install (you can't see it from my custom grill because I mounted it so high on the frame. I even got to keep the plastic "funnel" that directs air from the grill area to the radiator: ![]() ![]() I also got around to re-running the brake line to the passenger side front caliper. All I did was un-wind some of the line and ran it down closer to the center bar on the k-member and fed it over the a-arm mount on the other side. I didn't have to end up buying a new brake line, just used a single zip tie in the middle and then used the holes that Spohn drills in the k-member to mount it on the ends. It's not really pretty but it does the job: ![]() ![]()

I have been doing more piddling around with the block the last few days. I went and bought all the bolts I needed to finish off the top of the block with the intake and everything EXCEPT for the actual intake manifold bolts, which a friend of mine is giving me a set on Wednesday.
But the biggest confidence booster came today when I realized the clutch/brake pedal assembly I got for free a couple months ago is from an LS1 fbody, which makes the pedal hanging much more simple. If it were a set from a 3rd gen, I would have had to track down a set of 4th gen pedals and either use them instead or cut off the master cyl. peg and weld it onto the 3rd gen clutch pedal. So, I'm very happy to find out this good news. I started hanging the pedals today and ran into a bit of a downer when the bolt holes to mount the pedals wouldn't line up for the life of me. I'm going to see if a friend of mine can come over and help me finish hanging them and then I will cut the hole for the master cyl. and the hole in the center console for the shifter and then I will be ready to drop the motor in hopefully next week.

Just wanted to because it cleans up under the hood nicely.
