1992 Marlboro Camaro
Anyone know anything about the Marlboro camaro's? A friend of mine was offered a 1992 Z28 Camaro Convertible to give to her daughter. The car has Marlboro badges. Before we remove the badges wanted to try and find out some info on the car.

I couldnt find any info either. Its definately a "rare" car, but cant see that any real value is added to it just because it was a contest prize. Unless Phillip Morris just wanted it back for the company. Here is a pic, The marlboro badge is just a bit above the Z28 badge.

I would not consider it rare. It seems as though all that happened was a company (Marlboro) bought a convertible from GM to give away in a contest. It doesn't make it rare, it just means some lucky person won a free Camaro on Marlboro's tab. I would remove the emblems and drive it, because it looks like a really nice car.

Good luck with it and keep us posted, DJ

I have to go with the others on this one as well. It looks as if Phillip Morris just put his badges on a car that he was giving away. Either that, or someone smokes way too much and put them on there cause they "matched" the car lol. I would take them off and drive the hell out of that thing.

Thanks for the info. I want thinking Yenko rare. Should have used "odd." We just wanted to find a little out about it before we handed it over to a 16 year old for her first car. It is perfectly straight, perfect interior and 66,000 miles.

that is a nice car for a 16 year old kid. if it was me i would park that car and find something different until the young driver has more experience driving. camaros are low to the ground and those ground effects come off easy when a crib is hit or driven over.

More than likely is just a promotional car by marlbro... either used as in promotions or given away as some sort of prize. I wouldnt think it would be worth a whole lot more than a standard camaro, unless you found a particular collector looking for that edition.
Does it have any other packages along with it? 1LE (performance, handling package), or B4C (police edition) codes in the RPO codes? This could make it worth a little more. As far as removing the badges..well that is up to you. I wouldn't feel it would de-value the car any. Although with the badges the car would kinda have a story behind it. If you could find out the history behind the car. Then it could have a cool story about the car. Especially for someone interested in the car for shows and such.. But for a 16yr old female, she probably wouldnt care much about all that and just wanna have a cool car to drive. Thats alot of car for a 16yo to have, but thats just my opinion.

I think a Z28 convertible is an awesome first car. My blue one was my first car and it somehow survived my wild years haha

Nothing really to add here as far as how it got the badges, but I agree with Nick about that its a fine first car as long as she respects it and is careful in it. And to be quite honest a 3rd gen Z28 with a 305 isn't exactly a fire breathing dragon in stock form (no offense meant to the 3rd gen guys). Might have to be careful with it in the rain but that's about it. I did drive other cars while I had my permit and also had to work for my car, but nonetheless I've had it since about 2 months after I turned 16. That was 3 years ago now.

Yea as long as she respects it she will be fine. 305TPI's don't put out much power, they're just little torque monsters. If she can avoid driving it too much in the rain and snow she'll be fine.
