Taking one word off the filter

I believe the word D / a / m / n. Should be taken off the filters for this site. I understand this is a family oriented site, but when you can not say a word like d.a.m.n. which in my opinion isn't even a curse word. It takes it a bit too far. I say it here and there then I see the almighty stars in my post which honestly can make me seem like I said anything, but the word " D.a.m.n "

Just a friendly suggestion.

There really isn't any reason to add it. Even the avitar won't show up. Just mouse over the red X and it will show you what it says.

I really don't think that is going to fly. Me and the crew are pretty conservative when it comes to what is allowed on the forums.

Being adults, we really should not have to use curses to put our thoughts into words...

Honestly, there is no need to remove it from the filter. If you look around and read posts carefully, people still use the word, they just leave off the n. Dam

I agree. It really isn't even a curse word and I don't understand how people see it as one.. its a legitimate word with a legitimate meaning (well, multiple meanings from a river dam to dam.nation/punishment)

when people cringe at the use of dam, its as ridiculously immature as the taboo of using the words penis or vagina.

if that was the case they could simply add extra filters to take care of that combination of words... "hole" might as well be blocked so that people do not say "asshole"

Being adults, we shouldn't act like words of our language don't exist just because you've come to know them as "bad". The whole idea of "bad words" is really primal and along with many superstitious things, its baffling that theres still such a thing in the 21st century.

Just as guns are not the cause of violent behavior, language should not suffer the blame of negativity because of the way its used.

Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly like when people use nothing but "bad words" because it makes them look stupid, but I also feel the same way when people say bro, yo, or dog in every sentence. Its not the meaning of words that get to me, its how the language is constructed to convey meaning.

If you don't agree with something, there isn't a single thing wrong with selectively adding a "bad word" and calling it "bullsh**" instead of intentionally trying to be religiously and politically correct with "bull crap"

this topic was borderline when I added it to the filters...

for a while it was being abused with the Lords name and we recieved many many complaints about it. I myself dont like it either. Rather than add " God" to the filter list it is much better to add " D***" .

It's like this one song that I hear on the radio all the time where "God D___" is part of the lyrics, and of course the radio station decides to blurr out "God" and leave the "D" word in the song. It really irritates me that people have moved backwords so much in the last decade.

Did you know that when you say "god bless you" over something trivial like a sneeze, your taking his name in vain? (which is kind of odd, since his name is not "god", but rather Yahweh or Jehovah depending on the translation). Its funny how often people break the commandments without even realizing it

How is saying God Bless You taking his name in vain? You're sadly mistaken my friend.

Do you understand what taking something in vain means?

To do something in vain is to do it without an outcome.. something pointless.

Rather your telling god to punish someone or to bless them, you are using his name in a trivial matter in which using his name will not have a useful purpose.

The whole reason the bible says do not use his name in vain is so that his name would not be watered down and become a word used without even thinking about it (as it has been - oh my god, god bless you, god **** you, oh god!, etc)
