need disclaimer-- washing your car is illegal

check your city laws.... washing ur car may be against the law.. and this site should not advocate violating the law... so a disclaimer would be in order...

I have never heard of this...

there are tons of car wash stations, church & school car wash fundrasiers and not to mention millions of people breaking the law if that was the case..

every state is different... without proper drainage.... washing your car is against the law. working on your car in the driveway is also ilegal.. in an act of freedom, we should all pay to get our cars washed, and take our cars to the shop, instead of doing it in our driveways, and break the laws.. we are free to obey.

lmao...

Here's the only truth to your statement

that applies to certain chemicals and oils/whatnot being illegally dumped or drained into city sewer systems instead of being taking to a proper displosal place.

as far as working on your car, that follows the same thing with leaking oils/fluids/etc and also if you have an HOA (like I do)

was ticketed for both

code enforcers "police" do not come and inspect for proper drainage...

was car in driveway, or work on car in driveway.....get a ticket "at their discration" those are those kinda tickets you get if the police dont particularly like you very much...

the fact ramain......most areas washing and working on your cars in the driveway is illegal...i was just letting owner of the site know.

Yeah, my Association also does not let you work on cars period, not only on the driveway, but also in the garage. When it comes to that I will not obey that law, the house is mine, if they want to attempt to throw me out or fine me so be it. The fines wont even come close to all the money I've saved on labor with just basic maintenance on both of my cars for all these years. I pay 150 bucks a month for association dues, at least let me fix my damn car in my garage!

As for the car washing and chemicals going down the drains into the storm sewers, well, what are ya gonna do? Storm sewers all over the US take rain runoff which includes every chemical out there, gas, antifreeze, oil, you name it, and it usually runs to the nearest retention pond or lake, underground retention, etc. Not sure what car washes do, Ive never installed them there, but if I had to guess it's the same situation running through the storm sewer. I mean it's gotta go somewhere ya know? And chemicals will be in places they should not be no matter how hard we try, it's just a fact of life.

If they pass a rule of not washing my car either by me on top of not being able to work on my car, I dont care how the market is, Im selling and moving.

You know what, I'm not going to bash anything, but honestly most of that went over my head and I lost interest after about a minute or so. If this is one of those 'super plans' to 'make everything perfect', I dunno, let them keep dreaming.

Point being, Im a 30 year old construction worker who works hard for every penny I earn, and I will continue living the way I'm going to live. If someone wants to take the garden hose out of my hands while im washing my car, my free fist will find their nose in a hurry. Im also not one of those guys who dumps his used oil down the drains, I do whatever I can in my power to keep things clean. But in this world, isht happens, and these people who think they can control everything and change humanity are just wasting their time.

My boredom right now will keep me going in this goofy thread just to let you know.

if i lived some where that i would be fined for working on my cars or even washing my cars. now i understand if water is in short supplied. then i would move but believe me i would shout to the hills about it.

Most places it's not illegal. So no disclaimer is needed. It is illegal everywhere to improperly dump chemicals of any kind. So, hopefully no body here does that.
