Cool Need Engine For 1997 Z-28

I have a 1997 Z-28 Convertible and I need an engine. Does anyone know where I can find a nice LT-1 crate engine or a good engine with low miles. I thought I found one at a dealer in Houston until I did my research and found they lied to me about the miles on the used engine. I was told the engine had 10-15K miles but after researching and talking to the original owner I found the engine had over 100K miles on it. So please don't send me anyone who is not honest.

Thanks, Zwhat

I paid $475 for a reman. lt-1 short block from shipp rebuilders out of Dallas. I got a discount and it had a $250 core. I sold my short block for $250 so it worked out. I found another place that has a loc. in both Ft. Worth and Dallas. I'll try to get the name and # again. Bye the way, the short block I purchased was done right and the quality of the work appeared to be very good. I know someone that buys the basic 350's from them and bolts his racing parts on it and races it every weekend in his IMCA car w/tremendous amounts of success.

86 Red Rocket thanks for the information and any other information you have i would greatly appreaciate it. You can reach me during the day at (281) 261-4340. It seems like almost everytime I speak with either a rep. from a dearlership or a salvage yard they want to screw you around by not giving me the correct information on the engine they are trying to sell. I guess I may have to bite the bullet and pay for a new crate engine.

Thanks, for the info!!!!!!!!!!

Have anyone ever heard of or dealt with Billy Graham's Camaro and Firebird Salvage out of Alabama and if you have something good or bad to say I would like to hear from you because I'm thinking about buying this LT-1Engine from them.

Thanks

I've talked to them before, but I've never had any business dealings w/them.

I know someone that has a lt1, i thinks it is everything but computer and wiring harness. I think he wants $5500 for it. It is 383 bottom end, ported and polished heads and intake. It ran low 11 on motor I believe. I seen your # posted below, I can have him call u.

Blownskippy thanks for the reply but since I couldn't find an engine a buddy of mine turned me on to this shop who will rebuild my total engine for me for $1,800.00 dollars. I was told also if I wanted to bore it out they would charge me another $500.00. So I've decided to get my engine rebuild with a cam for about $2,000.00 and my buddy who works on race engines charged me $475.00 to pull and put my engine back in my car. I don't think I will find a better deal. Also I'm planning on getting my wheels dipped in chrome but I would like to have a set of original wheels which came on the 97 Z's. If you know of anyone who has a set 4sale please let me know. Again thanks for looking out for me.
