turbo z28 vs evo/cobra/sti/gt40r civic
Well this past Sunday after a Car show we were cruising back on the highway to town and my buddies wanted to see what my cars new power was like.
The sti was behind me and the cobra was next to me.. The camera car (Honda Del Sol lol) was behind the Cobra. The sol did the 3 honks and we took off. I wasn't WOT for a second b/c I was a bit confused on who was honking rofl. But when i hit about 100 i got about 3-4 car lengths on the Cobra and about 8 on the STI (my old car lol). The cobra only has a catback an intake and Nitto 555r's and the STI has a GT30R turbo with all the normal boltons which was about 400awhp. Not bad for my first race with the new clutch shifter and power haha. Later on we met up with another guy I know with a GT35R Evo 8. My buddies told me he upgraded the turbo again - i heard it was just ported and polished and needed the tune dialed in better. But never got confirmation from the owner. We went on 3 honks from a 40 as well. Boost came a lil late for some reason but I pulled a car or 2 on him and he got off the throttle. I only went through 1 gear. Shortly after that he got a flat tire tho which sucks lol. Was hoping to have a video with it but the dude in the Sol apparently hates going on his computer. The Civic i am supposed to be racing tonight - it is an 89 Civic Hatch with a GSR motor swap and a crazy straight from Japan transmission running 10 psi on a GT40R turbo. My car put down 490/520 on a mustang dyno on 12 degrees of timing at 10psi (to keep the bottom end from breaking)

Replied back - really not much lag at all. definitely happy with this setup. and also, just a note.. the tuner said i could hit 600rwhp and torque easily but he kept the tune around 500-550 so my bottom end doesnt break and the rear end doesnt snap lol

Quote:
unsure of the tune with it, i bought mine used through LS1tech. and i got ripped off to say the least when i bought it. wiring harness was useless, missing parts, etc etc.. if u r planning on going somewhere for a tune and u have 42lbs/60lbs injectors ud probably b able to ask if u can send them ur PCM for a mini tune just to get the injectors scaled n everything so its drivable safely. I'd get a T67 turbo minimum - the 60 is way too small Quote:
yea i am getting back into the swing of things with turbos - i didnt think of it until after the race haha. def will do that next time when i race the civic
