I've since added the juice, which I imagine has taken back most if not all of the weight we culled from those deletes. We're running a Nano-setup on a 50 shot. We posted a new nitrous best of 7.71, 1.62 60' in nasty, hot, high humidity 90+ degree heat and I was pretty happy with that; mostly due, I expect, from there being no one else around running 7.6s that night... so that's subject to change. Which is not to say that there weren't cars running faster; just no one competitive with our new best... which is pretty much where we've been for a year now... stuck in no-man's land... we're KILLING the 'drive-up' field by well over a second; and we're BEING KILLED by the bracket guys, by well over a second... with some exceptions in both areas... We get an occasional driver rolling in with a ride that's competitive with us and those nights are the BEST NIGHTS. But I digress... The idea in adding the juice was to control the air charge, to maintain that 'sweet-air' runnin'... I've got jets for a 75 shot, but I am not going to install those until we get the Eaton Detroit Locker bolted in... the old posi is makin' me nervous and she's bustin' loose on one side pretty much every time now and that can't be good. The New unit is in-house, but we've settled into the rainy season here, so things have kinda slowed down. I imagine we'll get her installed this week... at least I'm hopin'.

I like the 2nd version, homey.
See ya at the track. I have yet to run enough break-in miles yet to even swap out out the O2's. I might come out for a viewing session if it ever quits raining. ![]()

Man, you need to take a road trip to Ocala and back and bring that beast down to the track! We managed to get over there last night, FINALLY... For as hot as it was, it was decent runnin'... Had a lite turn out, but it was a decent field. Got a handle on the nitrous, found a leak which I had previously missed and viva le difference! Best pass was a 7.64 1.66 ft @ 90.49. (50 shot) Pulled several others in the 7.6xs... 7.66, 7.68; spent most of the night in the low to mid 7.7xs with most of the 60fts in the 1.7xs & .8xs. But I've been saying for weeks that she just didn't seem to be getting out of the hole clean; with what seemed to be consistent slippage in the dig... But last night my son-n-law (who's a gear head in the extreme) watched both sides and he swore he couldn't see any slipping at the wheel... He said she's pulling the front end up 2"-3" for 5 or 6 ft and looks wicked... But hey, the fact is that the 60s don't lie; and a car thats pulled a NA 1.62, doesn't pull a 50 shot 1.8x and not slip somewhere... So I was fairly sure that the old posi-unit was failing and the last burn out closed the door on that mystery when she finally gave up the ghost, letting out a NASTY series of Clanks where upon I shut her down, backed her out and we called it a night. This clank is TOTALLY different from the 'thud' produced by the broken tranny mount... plus the rear-end is slipping severely when I'd turn a corner... The good news is she held together long enough to get us the 20 or so miles back to the Son-n-laws house... on the 40 mph crawl... which was perfectly fine with me. (Btw... Thank ya Lord...) Further in the 'good news' dept, we've got the Eaton Detroit Locker in stock and ready to go; so now we're just waiting for some Rack-Time over "at the 'JiM'" (That's the place I take her to make The Z stronger...) so we can pull the cover to see what we've got; find out if the gears survived; and hopefully, as unlikely as it is, but HOPEFULLY... take her over to RUN-DAY SUNDAY! tomorrow. But we should have her bolted up for next week one way or the other... Hey did you hear that they're taking Run-Day Sunday to twice a month now? It don't GET not better than THAT!

Time to lay another stock rear to rest. I have all new parts for my rear as well. I will keep the stock posi 'til it breaks. I haven't had much time to work on the car much less drive it. I think I have 50 miles on her so far.
You never know. I might swap the O2's out and see if i can get her to idle better without stalling. I would love to drive her to the track tomorrow. ![]() Sounds like you are making more gains. Awesome. I need to save up money for a complete dynotune and minor exhaust work. prob $600 or so. I will definitely be at the track next week if not tomorrow. Later, Rich.
