Almost killed

I have a pretty modded 94 Camaro. We were at a muscle car meet that was pretty dead and it was cold so we load up to move on when a 70's Camaro pulls up an stops in front of me and rev's his engine a couple times, I laugh start up and go out the other way. I don't street race. I pull out of the parking lot down the feeder and he comes out right next to me. So we give a little go and I pull him about a car and run up on traffic and he goes ahead and gets on the freeway. I catch up and we go from about 50. I am watching the road until the car starts to miss, I am against the rev limiter @145 I look back to see I have about 10 cars on him and he is bailing out on the exit. I coast back down to 65 and look over to my left to watch a DPS cruise right on by. I don't know what happened or why he didn't stop me, it was definitely my lucky night.

So what was the scary part. Other than going 145 which to much for my blood unless at the track.

I guess you got a win with that. Maybe the cop didnt see you or didnt care.

Great for you, dog.

Whoa... CUHLOSE!

Congrats on the kill, but I'm with Richard... 145 on the Public Road is crazy... That's the fast way to going to jail and watchin' your car get crushed.

Shoulda bailed when you pulled dude initially... the race was over right there; at least as far as I'm concerned; when I do it. Top end runnin' on the road is just bad news for everyone man. Even IF you're confident in your ride, you don't know what Dude and his ride is capable of and it may turn out that he's some kind of fool who'll run it through a wall to get the win. I pull 'em and shut it down... (At least I try... I've stepped on my own standard many times, so don't think I'm preachin'...) If anything I'm just rienforcin' my own thinkin'...

Good kill tho'...

What kinda RPM were you turning at 145 mph at the rev limiter with that 4.11 turbo 350 set-up?

I am with OVA1 "Shoulda bailed when you pulled dude initially..." Too much can literally kill you when over 100mph on public roads. (Factor in 2 drivers doing it and odds go up considerably) I would not want to see you or other innocent drivers hurt/killed. I am not sure how you did not catch it, but you really can't use the phrase "I don't street race" in that thread.

If that is not a street race I don't know what is.

Like I said I don't believe in street racing, this was a moment of poor judgment that could and almost turned out to be a disaster, I learned a valuable lesson for free. with that said it sure was an Adrenalin rush that I'll save for the track.
the rpm was 67500 at 145 but I had 3.73 at that time, with the 4.11s I figure it will top out about 130.

LOL... 67,500... So you're runnin' a turbine... COOL!

It's all good dad... I understand and I believe the fellas do as well... we've all been there and we're all glad no one got hurt and ya took dude down to boot.

We all just want to tickle the glands and sometimes our foot does the thinkin' for us.

"But for the grace of God..."

Cya at the track...
