Just driving along minding my own buisness....

Well the other day I was tooling along on the Padden Parkway in Vancouver,WA.
It's a 4 lane divided highway but a 50mph zone with stoplights every mile or two and several closer together near the I-5 interchange where I was heading to Costco for gas.
I'm looking down at the speedo which was reading about 65 thinking to myself I best slow down a bit so's not to get pinched by the WSP who patrol often in the area, just then in the right lane some little sh!t in an intrepid does a flyby at 80mph or better and cuts in front of me coming up on the next light.

I pull up behind him because other cars are in the right lane and I can hear him reeving his (souped up?) V-6 through the noisey f4art can muffler and see him looking at me in the mirror.
He nails it on the green and I stick to his arse like stink on sh!t till I get a chance to move over for the pass in the right lane having had just about enough of his insolence,I make the pass but I'm hitting about 80mph so I back off and he flys by again barely able to stop at the next light.
Normally I'm no street racer but this little tool has gotten under my skin,I'm right next to him in the right lane at the light so when the light turns green I nail it knowing full well he was going to,I'm expecting to blow him off but I hit it too hard and went up in smoke!

Sideways and peddling it through first and second gear to try and regain traction he pulls me by a car length before I can hook up and by then the next light is coming up.
He pulls in front of me and I switch to the left lane which is open at the light, just as I get there and stop it turns green,he nails it again and I punch it as well.
This time I was a little easier on the gas and got minimal wheelspin in first, hooked up well flooring it as I hit second and shot by him like he was standing still.
I cut in front of him and then turned into Costco at the next light.
Gotta admit it was pretty quick for a six banger FWD but no contest for the Z when I got the wheelspin under control.

crazy you are! ya is it just me or are a lot of you getting races left and right?! I'd say I'm jealous but now that I think about it, I can't afford to get a ticket any more. I've actually been driving really well and trying not to speed especially. It's just so hard to not race or anything in these cars. When I had my first couple of races I always got too excited as well and hit the gas too hard and always wound up spinning out of control as well. I just think of every car as a 4 cyl and think that I don't have to try as hard and that usually helps keep me from shoving my foot to the floor.

Well I haven't done anything like that in about 30 years lol,I'm 53 years old and normally don't drive like that.
I take good care of my car and rarely get on it hard from a dead stop so I wasn't really ready for the wheelspin.
I do know how to handle a fast car but am admittedly a little out of practice.
I did most of my driving of that type decades ago in my old '69 427/4speed Camaro, the '93 Z28 is a DD car.
I do most of my hotrodding on the water these days in my big block speedboat.

I got to see a couple of fountain motors with 14-71's on them.

Watch it on the street- you get caught racing in some areas and they impound the car- the tickets you could get could ensure that you aren't driving for a long time-

Not worth it, IMHO

Yup,you're right and normally like I said I wouldn't.
In this instance I was able to see both directions for a long enough distance on a divided highway that I knew there were no cops watching and I checked out the few other cars around us to be sure none were hide-a-cops lol.
If there had been a cop around the tool in the intrepid would have been nailed when he made the first pass on me doing at least 30mph over the speed limit.
All that said I'm not looking to run anyone else in the future, not worth the risk but it was fun putting that tool in his place.

I must admit it is pretty hard not to stomp on some little fart can car but they are pretty hard on street racing nowadays.
When I was younger you would only get a speeding ticket if they caught you racing, now they treat it like you have murdered some body, maybe worse. It is mainly because of the news media hyping it up so much to sell their cruddy rags or get you to watch the lousy news shows. More people die from bee stings than from street racing but that does not sell papers.

Most of my buddies won't even waste gas on a riceburner. I used to play with a little bit just to mess with them but haven't lately.

One thing I learned from one them though is to just look over and cover your nose. That really used to get back under their skin.

I know I won't. Its not worth the (Albeit relatively small) chance of breaking something or getting a ticket over some little punk in a fart canned 1.6 civic. I honestly think its funny to watch them shoot off while I just take off normally. It makes them look like the idiots they are. That's not to say that Im not up for a little play time with a decent competitor on a deserted back road

I killed my optispark in February playing with an LS1 Z on the highway at 2 in the morning. Definitely not worth it. I think that's the last time I've ever raced and before that it was always playing around with my buddies '07 Mustang GT everytime he would get something new. I've quit goofing off like that though. Can't afford more repairs or a ticket.

I remember my first race was at a crowded intersection at 1pm inner city with all lanes full and waiting on the light. I was chilling in my Z and a 94 3.4 with a rediculous exhaust(if he had one) puls up revs the hell outta it and his girlfriend is looking over and laughing. So I don't even screw with the revving BS, i do a standing burnout to let him know what he's gotten himself into and at the green we punch it. I had huge spin, and still walked him the whole way. His lady was laughing anymore, but I sure was
