Mustang story

Had to post this, its not a camaro story, waiting for my ride to get finished being painted. But it is a kill story lol and one ya'll should appreciate.

So I am driving my 2.0l turbo passat VW down the main strip in my local town just tooling along. My wife is riding shotgun. I see this mustang cruising in the same direction. It was like a 2000-2004 model body style. It sounded really good and had rousch stickers and bodykit on it and such and was a stick.

Those of you not familiar with passats its a 2.0 inline four turbocharged. It has a variable vane turbo, variable intake manifold, and variable valve timing. The base hp is 200 and the base toque is 207. My car is a 6 speed automatic tiptronic. I had the APR tune done on it which is supposedly brings it up to 250 hp and 270 ft lbs torque (more like 30 and 50 I figure).

Anyhow so I pull up to this stang as we are cruising down the road, it was really nice I must admit, but I just had to screw with it. I dropped the tranny into sport mode and punch it, the turbo spooled up and whoosh I was gone.

I get a little further up the road and take the right lane. Who pulls up next to me, the stang. Now we are at a light and I am grinning like a pic in !#*!#*!#*!#*. I drop the car into amnual shift mode and pop it into first (car starts in second gear normally when in auto mode). I know they are gonna run me cuz there are two peeps in the car and they are looking hard lol.

The light runs green and I punch it off the line. I hear the mustang open up and off we go. As the turbo really hit in first my front tires broke loose and started squealing lol, the stang didn't pull on me and I didn't pull on it, we were nose to nose up until about 60 mph. Unfortunately I couldn't continue to spank the stang (I feel I was spanking it with my little four cylinder because they couldn't pull on me lol) because a car pulled out in front of me. I had to hit the breaks. I would have like to continue that one to see just how long I could have stayed with it. Perhaps the driver of the stang didn't know how to shift, but they didn't miss any gears.

I am not sure those cars are that fast. I passed an 2005ish model on one of our main bridges its about 3 mileslong I would say. Blew by em at 80ish with the same car. As soon as I blew by em I saw the front end of his car come up and he started gaining on me, so I dropped it into sport mode, killed the ac and punched it. I started pulling on him immediately all the way up to 120 at which time he was so far back it was funny lol.

Anyhow, just thought you guys would get a laugh outta a four door grocery getter spanking a stang.

I just recently got rid of the 02 GT I picked up as a DD. Let me say it was fun to drive with the 5 speed, handles good and sits comfy but as for fast...........it's not My wife took her TBSS to teh strip and I took the GT and she won, the GT even had some minor bolt ons It ran a 14.6 best in the GT.

Im in Chicago, and we ran them at Byron which is by Rockford. I think it was the car tbh but then again reading on the stang site those times are not uncommon. Its just not a fast car, I mean in comparison alot of family cars (Altima 3.5 for example) can run dang near the same times or better Fun ti drive yes fast no. If ya want a fast ford ya gets a Cobra!!!

*Edit* It dynoed at 243 rwhp and 283 rwtq.

Another fast stock ride is a tuned cobalt turbo. I hear 350 to the wheels is very possible with just a tune.

My stock 87 stang auto ran 15.6's in the quarter mile. Thats a shame that ford cant do any better 10 years later. I just don't understand it. I do like mustangs, but ford should really take the lead and build a fast base model mustang. In the 80s thats what the mustang was all about it was the cheapest, almost fastest, production car you could buy. The grand nationals had em beat, but her, it was forced induction and not beat by too much. Yea my little passat is surpriseingly quick. As far as reliability goes tho, I wouldn't buy another one, too many electrical/sensor probs for me. Germans really build !#*!#*!#*!#* weird and not reliable.
