You'll get yelled at alot but do what I did and just blow it off and don't let them get to you. It's their job to yell and your job to do better next time. Just don't let it get to you. Some get it more than others. I only got it a few times. Doing the reserves and go to school is the way to go. Probably too late, but what you should have done is gone to school first then went in as an officer. If you have facial hair get rid of it before you go. LOL Some didn't when I went in and they're making them shave the first day in about 2-3 minutes. Blood flying everywhere. dam that was funny to watch. GOOD LUCK and have fun!!

Congrats on your decision. I sure do like to see our youth supporting their country and serving in the Armed Forces. Good luck and may God bless you and keep you.

Congrats on the decision to serve your country ...... but .... I have a couple of questions for you..... 1) What was it that took you to the reserves? 2) What MOS did you get and was it what you wanted? 3) Have you looked into getting airborne qualified and ranger school and how hard it is to get those schools in the Reserves?

I was with the 3rd ranger bat. Ranger tabbed, had my wings (airborne wings) and was a scout sniper for my last 1 1/2 year I was in. But I was also active duty. As far a being in the reserves and get tabbed. Its almost impossible to go to ranger school as a JOE (e-4 and below) in the reserves inless you can get it written in your contract when you go to meps. Also if you arent an 11b "infantry" I highly doubt you will get it. Reserves=negative, not being an 11b=another negative. Its already going to be impossible as a reserve, but it makes it even harder not being infantry. As far as airborne and air assult it should'nt be too hard to get as reserve. If you are going to school to be a officer you automatically go to ranger school. If you want to get into a ranger bat. you can put in for it once you get ranger qualified (ranger tabbed). If you are 100% sure you want to go to ranger school be ready for the worse 3 months of your life. Ranger school and seal (BUDS) are the HARDEST schools in the military as far as mental and physical abuse/stress. In order to get into ranger school if it is not in your contract or you get sent as part of your training to become an officer you HAVE to be a stud. If you are constantly scoring high on your PT scores (300+) and show your sqd. leader, plt. sgt., PL, first sgt and Co. Commander that you are flawless in the field they can reccommend you. I can go on for ever bro, if you or anyone else have any questions feel free to PM me.

That right there almost hits it dead on the head. In the Reserves if you want to get Airborne qualified, there is ONLY ONE MOS that they have in the reserves. The Reserves DO NOT have any Combat Arms Units .... they have support units but not actual Combat Arms Units. Getting your wings in the Reserves is **************** near impossible UNLESS you are in the only MOS they have.

ROTC is what im wanting. and im wanting to go active afterwards. which is what i meant by wanting to get into ranger school. i chose reserves to get my college degree, then plan on going active to do ranger school etc... sorry, one thing that bugs me is how much my recruiter left out it seems. but i was told the best way for me to go was to get into rotc. i dont leave for boot til aug and my goal by the time i leave is to be able to get the 300 on the pt.
