Big Request, Need someone currently active in the Army

We are trying to do a full Military Burial for Dad but with the holidays near it is hard to get a full service with the 21 gun salute due to people being out for the holidays.

My father was a Green Beret in the Special Forces stationed out of Ft Bragg NC, so this would be a huge honor for him.

If anyone would have the slightest way to help please contact me asap. PM, email, Jason@z28.com

Jason, I posted your request on ArmedForcesCarClub.com. Hope you don't mind, but I figured maybe some can help, or maybe they know someone. Good luck my Brother. Remember, take your time and we're praying hard for your family.

we already called the VA and the funeral home director.. so they are also working on something..

I just want this to be extra special cause he was very patriotic, as thoes who saw his truck at the BG event would know... so this is a big deal for him to only have the best service..

Jason, he served his country and deserves to be sent to our Father properly. I pray we will be able to repay him with the proper respects due him.

The MAN under the beret is what makes the beret. Only the Top guys ever earned that one!

they say that only 3 men out of 100 made it thru the training..

I have often heard of some of the stories my old man used to tell...

The bearers of the Green Beret are a special breed. They've always had my utmost respect.

Hey Jason... I'm sorry for your loss I had no clue your father served in the military. Best wishes to you and your family... I hope everyone is doing okay.

I just saw Jim's post on my website this morning and I would like to do absolutely everything I can do to help. I see that you said you already contacted the VA, are they making any progress?

I definitely don't have every connection in the world only being in for 6 years but I am currently on a much smaller funeral service right now, and being the owner of ArmedForcesCarClub.com, I am affiliated with people who know people who know people, etc.

If you would like for me to see what who I can get hold of and see if we can pull some strings, I will definitely do so. I wouls just need to know where the funeral would be located, what funeral home is providing the services, etc.

PLEASE, let me know via PM because I am about to go to work now so I'll need the PM to send an email to my phone. Either that, or you can email me (much safer way) at sdavis2702@yahoo.com. I hope everything works out man and once again, I'm very sorry that this has happened.

Hope to hear from you soon.

The VA is probably going to be your best contact locally, however if you can find a recruiter that is out he will be able to direct you to the appropriate people in the area as most recruiters pull funeral duty on a regular basis because they are local to the area. At least that is how the Marine Corps works.

Alright Jason I just got off of the phone with the a Louisiana representative from casualty services. The number I called was 888-474-0377. I found them on http://www.militaryfuneralhonors.osd.mil/ That is the official site for military funeral services.

I spoke to a woman and explained to her exactly who I was and what your situation was... she was very helpful. Here is what she told me after asking for some of the information that you gave me in the email.

1. Contact the funeral home that you told me about and express to them exactly what kind of service you want. She said that they deal with almost every funeral home in the state so the funeral director should be VERY familiar with the procedures.

2. She said the funeral director will then contact casualty services at Fort Polk which is the same place I already called. Again, that number is 888-474-0377 if your funeral home doesn't already have it.

3. You told me that they already had his discharge papers. She didn't seem very excited about discharge papers. She expressed the need of a DD 214 or some type of retirement paperwork. Basically, anything showing the years he served and his rank. If those are the papers you are talking about then everything is good.

As far as you go, all you will need to do is let the funeral home know what kind of service you would like for your father. As long as you stay on top of them, they should be able to handle everything else. She was pleased that the funeral wasn't until the 27th so you should be good to go. If you already talked to your funeral home, most of this is probably already in the works. I would still check on it though.

I hope this helps and I hope everything works out as planned brother.

Thanks guys I just hope it all works out for you Jason. I currently do military funerals myself, so I see first hand what it does for the family to see their loved one honored properly.
