If you are really serious about strengthining the chassis weld in some connectors and go through and weld the seams on the front and rear frame sections up solid (do it an inch or two at a time to avoid warping) that alone will make a world of difference , next you can install a 6-8 Pt cage to help strengthen the upper chassis ..
if you aren't making over 350 HP I wouldent worry about doing too much but if you are making serious HP it will be a must with the third gens weak chassis..

As long as my block is ok after this winters storages mishap, i should be running plenty over 350. Do they sell weld in frame connectors that don't require modifying the suspension or frame? How much work does it take to get all of the cage lined up in the interior?

Even if you are stock, it's a good idea to install SFCs on third gens. My car is the stock L03, and I'm putting them on mine.
Yes. You can get them from Spohn or UMI Performance and many others.

It took over three weeks of work to cage my 88 T/A and that was with a chassis works kit that was pre formed .. I did a backhalf chassis also with a ladderbar suspension and Wheel Tubs so I diden't need connectors but the car was solid after...

My subframe connectors didn't require any modifications to make them fit. I got them from top-downsolutions.com. They are made by Alston Racing.
http://www.top-downsolutions.com/pro...products_id=90 The only thing you might have to do is disconnect the ypipe to get the passenger side sfc on, I didn't have to because at the time I didn't have a catylitic converter, so I just slipped the sfc over the top of the exhaust pipe and it worked without unbolting anything. If you have a cat you might have to disconnect it because it's right in the way while you're trying to weld.

There are several manufacturers that make SFCs that don't require unibody modifications. Like Nick said, the most you'll have to do if you get the Alstons, UMI, Spohn, etc is maybe move the exhaust.
I have the Spohn's for mine, but I'm having a race car builder install them because A. I can't weld B. He will know more of what he's doing.
