Well athough ide say your best bet is to flare the wheel wells out more of you really have come to the conclution that your only hope is to increase your ride height in the rear youve got three options i know of. First JC whitney sells springs to lift i think about 2 in. Its been a while but i do remeber seeing them. Your second option is to install spring expanders which again is good far an inch or two. Third and lastly there are rubber doughnuts that you can place under the spring to act like a shim again achieveing the desired end. No matter which way you go it will accomplish what you need but it will kinda throw the rear ends geometry off so i would recomend flairing the wheel wells further.

Been the JC Whitney route, only front springs listed, don't know why. Dumb curiousity, anyone think that's worth a gamble? I've already got expanders in them as well as the shocks, I'd be interested in the rubber doughnuts, where did you see them available. I'm workin out of a parking lot with a property manager that isn't to fond of me so the flaring most likely can't happen. BTW, glad to see someone else gets a kick out of THAT"S WHAT SHE SAID, you'd be amazed how many times you can use that as a logical response in everyday life.

It was probably anothe JC whitney special. Youll have to call them to get you ones to your specs but heres an idea of what your looking for.

Autozone has some. They are round rubber spring perches that seem to be pretty hard. They are supposed to lift the car or truck 1-2 inches. You'll find them over by the towing stuff with the lift/ lowering blocks and energy suspension pieces. In all the ones I've worked at it's aisle 7.

I wanna thank y'all for the insight. Here's how I'm hopin' this'll work: I'm getting new stock springs, when I install those, I will put the rubber spacers underneath, then I will put the stabilizers in the middle, then inflate the air shocks to about 150.
Plan B If this doesn't work I'll punch a lot walls and doors, drink heavily, and maybe start crying while curled up fetal in a dark room. Thanx again. |

Everyone is talking about flaring the fenders, will just rolling the lip give you enough room? A good pic will give us an idea of what you will need.

it turns out that in the process of putting in shocks, supports, etc. I turned the coil spring which is inbedded in the insulater, which just spins freely (and out of place). I spun the spring around to where it once resided, and so far so good. I can't tell what's an old cut in the tire versus a newone, but i don't hear rubbing anymore. I'll try to get a pic up later, I'm at work now and just realized my distributer hold down isn't holding down
, thus I've got my next moment of TLC for my ungrateful whore. Quick and ez but I'm lazy. |

Lol, I have had one of those days. There is very few options that you have with that setup. If it was my car, I would be looking at new wheels. Ones with a different offset. But it's your car and you said something about jacking up the rear. That will work but I think it will look like trash and it will ride like crap. The only other option is to get some flares and cut the fenders bigger. This will require a lot of body work but if you like tires that big, that is what you are going to have to do if you want a good ride.

Thanks, I think?, I'll get to that later. The fender flaring just isn't possible at this point, they'll evict me. I'm kinda hopin that when it all comes to an end, the rearend will sit high enough to not rub but still have just enough give that I don't have to sacrifice to much traction. But as far as the "will look like trash"--- I'm on the outskirts of Orlando, one of the most fake cities in the country, next door to "Crime Hills", to be precise. When you've seen fake diamond grilles on lifted, spinning rim, pink/purple fade paint job Dodge Magnums; Mustangs with Pepsi can mufflers and more fake gold and silver than a Claire's Boutique. I could put polka dots on this thing and it would still look phenominal. Besides, the wheels on it accessorize the battleship gray primer and stars n bars in the back seat. I guess I've got a phd in hillbilly .
No offense taken by the way, to each their own. Thanx for the insight (seriously), hope all goes well for ya. Thanx again. |
