Car Show

Hey,
I am curious about the local car shows around here. I have attended some of them and they are filled with mostly crappy imports and some decent domestics. However, my brother told me that I should put my car in a show or two. I mean I wash it every week with Zaino stuff and get it detailed twice a year. What are your opinions? Should I do it? How would I do if I do? Another question I have is do you have to have the total package? I mean I know of course that a Camaro should win , but do I have to have an LS1 Z28 or SS or something better than a V6. A lot of the local shows are all looks. I am thinking about accenting my interior and engine compartment with red. Also any tips about what to do before I enter are welcome.
