summer tires?

I was just wondering this and couldnt find a good place to put it since most of these general questions end up here. I live in GA and it snows here like once every other year for about 3 days. Thats really about it. If I went ahead and bought tires that were labeled "summer tires" I will be ok in this type of climate right? The last tires I bought were kumhos on my camaro but im looking for something stickier. What do you think? Later <><

Generally when it gets icy here (very rarely) I dont drive anyways. Only exception was in 2005 when I took my Wrangler out when there was about 4" of ice on the road. I kinda figured the dunlop mud rovers would cut the ice pretty well. That was until she slid right to the edge of a 4ft drop off and stopped when my front bumper kisses a stop sign haha. Yeah, the bird probably wont go out in snow or ice anyways after that. Later <><

I'm pretty sure you'd be fine Sean. 55*-60* for a few morning hours is fine. Down here it gets to be an average of 40* or so during the daytime, which is why im concerned. I think you'll be ok because its not like you would be driving in the cold for extended periods of time, and no freezing temps at that. Later <><

Humm well you say it snows once every other year, so it must get decently cold and I have BFG TA's on my car and anything under 45* and you can kiss your traction good bye! They turn into rocks, I can spin at like 20mph, just laying into the throttle... But if you are easy on them and just drive the car like you were out for a Sunday drive everday, then I say there is no concern, just don't go crazy...

Good luck,
Bill

I'm running these: http://www.nittotire.com/tires_555r.asp (315/35 17)on the back, and I WAS running these: http://www.nittotire.com/tires_555r2.asp (275/40 17)on the front.. super sticky, but the treadwear (up front) sucks balls. I replaced the fronts with BFG G-Force Sports in the same size. Still pretty sticky, but they should last alot longer. The RII is like a full blown road race tire.

thats what im thinking. average temp here is low 40's in the winter. we are really not accustomed to having snow/ice around here so when it does hit, everything shuts down so the chances of me needing to drive in that sort of weather are very slim. no joke, we can get a big ice warning from the news and the school systems shut down. they have closed down the school systems like that before with barely any ice accumulated on the streets. so its kinda boring around here when that happens haha. thanks for the advice. Later <><
