it is put there as a silencer. most of us have capped it off to make the air flow less turbulant. you can get delete plugs at thunderracing.com for 35 bucks, or you can just use a cap from a pert plus bottle. there is a thread about it if you scroll down a bit.

is it worth getting a trick flow elbow? will the pert plus cap really fit????? what are the gains?
Yes the Pert cap will fit fine if your wanting to cap the donkey dong. If you dont want to mess with it then yes its worth getting either the Trick Flow or the Vortech piece.

Go with the Trick Flow, I like it better than my old Vortech one, less fabrication and same (if not better) result.
