    Question Throttle body

    I've got a ' 95 Z28 and can't decide on a throttle body. Any Opinion's ????

    BBK

Hi Anti95, I've heard that the BBK T.B. makes a whistling sound. Any truth to that? I find it kind of hard to believe considering how great the BBK 96-97 headers that I just bought look. Any tips for the cats? Thanks, E.T.

Don't run any cats. If you do, I would go with the Random Technology cats.

BBK and Holley are both cheap but have problems. I run a LPE and have never had any problems with it. The BBK and Holley both have problems sticking and just poor production problems.

I picked up 25 RWHP with no other changes then going from a stock ported TB to my 58mm LPE.

    Good luck all!

    thanks for the T.B. tips

Hi fellow LT-ers, thanks for the tips. BBK is definitely a popular choice. I think the best non-emission y-pipe for the 96-97 dual cat cars seems to be through a company stainlesssteelworks.com or something like that for 299 for a 2.5in y-pipe/offroad pipe unless I can get a second set to gut like you all mentioned. I don't want to trash my stock ones since I only have 16,000 miles on it. I might step up to the Throttle body mod next. Edelbrock any good on T.B.?

Ok we will start with me racing for the last 20 years and go from there

The motor in question ONLY dyno's 291 RWHP. The addition of the 58mm brought it up to 316. you do the math.

I deal in facts and work on more of these cars in our shop then you look at durring a car show.

You want to recomend sub par parts I understand. You really want to help people? Maybe listen to what other people tell you.

The problem with the BBK AND Holley is the way they machine the body and assemble the bell crank Assy. They can be fixed but you are still prone to problems. The main complaint from customers and friends is a sticking throttle. One of the BBK units you are so fond of stuck at WOT. I would rather Recomend a good part to begin with and not have to explain to a family member why some one is dead because they painiced when the throttle Stuck Wide open.

It is your call. If your life is cheap and not worth the extra $$$ buy the cheap junk.

My life is the only one I have. The price is to high to cheap out...

For above post. Edelbrock uses BBK

    T.B.

O.K. didn't mean to start a WWIII, sorry guys. I appreciate both of your opinions. I'll look into both of them. Where are lingerfelter parts even sold? I've seen many articles with Mr. Lingerfelter in them but hadn't seen any of his parts on any of the usual websites. Thunderracing, LGperformance, SLP, etc. Thanks again, guys!

That's what I want to know too.

25 RWHP increase with a TB only sounds a little far-fetched to me unless the engine is heavily modded.

I could be wrong, so don't think I'm trying to be an a%! about it.

    frankjr, here it is

Hi Frank, sure, here is the site www.stainlessworks.net. Yes, 299 doesn't sound bad for 2.5in stainless off road pipe(no cats) for f-bodies(especially my 96-97 dual cat car). I am going to buy one next. I just bought the BBK ceramic coated headers and am working my way back. They do sell other years w/ or w/o cats. Can't say how good they fit cause I don't have one yet.

Yeah I agree, I have never heard of that kind of gain. Maybe 5-10 HP.
