Exclamation POWER WINDOWS on 95 Z28, Power to switch gone ! ? !

    Hi All,

Has anyone ever had the problem of intermittent power to the windows and door locks. Everything has worked fine since new, other then having to replace the driver window motor. Out of the blue I had no power going to the door lock (PDL) switch and Power Windows, checked the 30 Amp breaker and it is good. Now the PDL DO work, out of the blue, but the power windows still do not.

Is there any other module or breaker, I checked the box on drivers side under the hood and everything looks good and could not see or find a breaker from Power Windows, only injectors etc.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance!!

    best to all

    Tommy

You did not mention the radio, but the radio fuse 17, power windows CP 15 and door locks (accy) fuse 7 all get power from the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Module. It keeps things like door locks, rear hatch lock, windows, and radio working for different periods of time after the key is turned off. Possible your connections to RAP can be intermittent or the RAP is going bad. The RAP sits in a plastic holder at the front center of the dash tunnel against the firewall.

Here is a writeup http://www.trifectaperformance.com/t...rmanceMode.htm .. Basically the '95-'95 LT1 PCM has 5 sets of transmission shift point tables 1-Normal, 2- Kickdown (PE), 3- Cruise Control, 4- Manual and 5-Performance. The performance switch is on the Firebird TA only, but it is programmed into the Z28 they just did not install the switch. When the button is depressed after ignition-on the PCM switches from normal to performance shift point tables. If the button is depressed again the PCM switches back to Normal shifting. Ignition off then on defaults back to Normal settings. An indicator LED lights when the PCM activates the Performance settings. The Performance table gives you an additional set of shift points at the push of a button. I can alter the performance table to try different shift patterns and also leave an aggressive set of shift patterns loaded in it for playing around. This assumes you have tuning software to alter the tables, otherwise you will run with stock performance settings similar to a FB TA out of the factory.
