as far as i can remeber u do have to have a new balancer so that it gets balanced. the hub should be checked to.

jim first off i hope i dont mis understand you again. lol. When i had my shortblock built (383 internally balance) the machinest gave me back the hub and balancer and told me i didnt have to pay him to balance it (because he didnt check it) becuase he RARELY has them so off they cause issues. lol sounds crazy but hes a guy with great rep. told me i could use the stocker with no issues. However if i had the cash with out a doubt told me an after market damper would be great to have.

i hope that answers you.lol yes you can use the stocker, you can pay to have it balance, more then likely it will be fine, but an aftermarket would be a great idea. i know i am.

For the cost of a new one, it is worth the insurance. I bought a Pioneer keyed hub and damper pretty cheap. The old stockers elastomeric ring breaks down over time and if it goes bad or is off just a little bit all that money and hard work goes right down the drain. I posted the PN's for both somewhere on here when I got mine. Good luck finding it. If you cant let me know and I will try and hunt down the PN.

When my engine builder balanced my rotating assembly he said he did not need my hub and balancer. If i were to buy a aftermarket set would i run into problems with the balance?

Either one would take care of the hub. I would also need a dampener or balancer.

When you purchase a ati super damper does it come with a hub or do you buy that separate? Do you need a certain one ?

Hub is separate. The one I have I bought from a friend. It was the entire set up. They are expensive new but man are they nice.
