Can anybody school me on the effects of valve sprIngs shims. Or the formula to see how exactly the Valve spring pressure increases/decreases with different size shims and spring heights.

I didn't read the article but just for reference:
The closer the springs are set to coil bind at full lift, the shorter the springs service life will last. exapmle: A spring that is set to 0.100 away from coil bind at full lift in most cases will last longer (retain its strength) than a spring set to 0.060" away from coil bind at full lift.

Good to know... After I checked mine I was glad I did ..about 4-5 valves where way under or over the height recomendations . These where used le2 heads Lloyd said they should be at 1.78 some where plus or minus .04 thousands. The pro form tool did not work since my retainers would not fit. So I used a good quality caliper To measure everything.
